I hold you in the palm of my hand so that when the wind and the storm make you fall, I am a sturdy foundation to stand on.
I hold you in the palm of my hand for when you cry, let the tears fall at your feet for my hand to catch.
I hold you in the palm of my hand so that when you feel alone and abandoned you know I stand beside you.
When you feel alone, realize you never will be.
From where I stand, I can see the weight of the world strapped across your back dragging you down. My hand supports the weight as it lays by your feet so you can stand up straight.
I hold you in the palm of my hand because my hand never tires for it is strengthened by my love. And my love shall never end.
Though my fingers do not form a protective cage around you, my fingers will never allow the unbearable to trespass.
And as I look down on you, I smile. For when you tilt your head up toward the sky, I know you see my reflection beyond the dark, star-less night. And I see you smile because you know you are safe and you always will be for your faith, too, lies in the palm of my hand.
