Hamburger Cupcakes
Yummy and tricky, these are the sweet and easy way to celebrate April 1st!

One look at these tricky little burgers might be the dead giveaway that theses fast food treats are sweet confections instead of beefy goodness. Yet from the get go, one look at these hamburger cupcakes had me longing to make them.

With April 1st coming up as the perfect excuse to construct these tricky masterpieces, this is the “sweet” way to trick someone on April 1st and still get a tasty treat yourself! While nobody may be fooled into thinking these are drive-thru quality, there aren’t many you’ll have to trick into eating this treat: A yummy combo of brownies and cupcakes that will get your creative juices flowing and introduce you to the world of decorating cakes!

Ingredients
• Yellow cake mix
• Brownie mix
• 24 cupcake holders
• White frosting
• Green, red and yellow food coloring
• Sesame seeds

Directions
  1. Prepare yellow cake mix and make cupcakes with cupcake holders. Be careful not to over bake; the lighter in color the cupcakes are, the more realistic they’ll look.
  2. Prepare brownie mix as directed, making sure the brownies are no more than 1 ½ inches thick. Cut into 2-inch circles.
  3. Divide frosting into three bowls, and color one bowl with green (for lettuce), one bowl with red (for ketchup) and one bowl with yellow (for mustard).
  4. Once cupcakes and brownies are completely cooled, remove the paper cupcake liners and cut the cupcakes in half vertically, so there is a top and bottom half for the bun.
  5. Place one brownie circle between each pair of cupcake halves, alternatively squirting the green, red, and yellow frosting on top of the brownie before placing the top “bun” on.
  6. Sprinkle the top of the cupcake “bun” lightly with Sesame seeds.
Tips, Tricks and Extras
• It’s a good idea to let everything cool well before assembling; this way, the frosting doesn’t melt!

• For a realistic touch, try squeezing the green “lettuce” frosting in a squigglier pattern around the top of the brownie, and make the red and green frostings a little straighter.

• If your red “ketchup” frosting is too bright, try a few drops of purple food coloring to darken it a bit and give it a richer, ketchup color.

• Try not to overdo it on the sesame seeds; they’re for decoration, not taste.
